The
Bella Vista Girls Home
The Bella Vista Girls Home was started in 1920 in
response to a boy's attempt to care fo his
brothers and sisters after the death ofhis mother.
By, 1995, the home had more than six hundred (600)
children in residence; and in 1996 a new housing
facility was constructed in San Andres, located in
Las Cumbres, Republic of Panama. |

Board
Members
A committee of board members establishes the rules
that are to be followed and the Director is
responsible for the fulfillment of the established
rules.
At the home, the girls developmental and
socio-economic needs are met. They learn to live
as a family, develop like skills, and attend local
public schools. Recreational activities and
educational trips are also part of their
developmental process. They are frequent visitors
to museums, theaters, parks and other recreational
areas.

Episcopal
Church
The
home is under the auspices of the Episcopal Church
in Panama, of which Bishop Rt. Rev. Julio E.
Murray Th. is the head. The Rev. Nelson Edwards is
the Chaplain of the girls home. He serves as a
guide for the girls spiritual development. |

Calvario Christian Center
The Templo Calvario Christian Center was founded
on November 20, 1968 and its located on 7th Street
and Central in Colon, Republic of Panama.
Currently the senior pastor is Rev. Ricardo L.
Alleyne and his wife Marva Alleyne they have
directed this church for the past 14 years. |

Membership
The Templo Calvario
has a 1000+ membership. Under the leadership of
Rev. Alleyne and his wife they have founded
several oureach minitries, that impact Colon city,
such as: The Good Shepherd Academic Center, The
Noah's Ark Day Care Center, Templo Calvario's
Interdenominational Ministerial School, Soup
Kitchens, Shaboc Restaurant, Shaboc Rehabilitation
and Resocialization Center: Estereo Abalanza,
Mercy House, Golden Hands Ministry, Youth and
Children's Ministries, Toy Bank and the School
Implemented Bank.
Apostle Alleyne and his wife have worked
extensively with the street youth gangs in the
city of Colon and have gained their deep respect.
They also direct a tough jail ministry (men, women
and youths).

This ministry has

youngsters.

The
Sickle Cell Trust
The Sickle Cell Trust Council undertakes the
management of patients with sickle cell disease on
the island of Jamaica through clinics at the
University Hospital, Black River Hospital and
Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay,
Jamaica. Patients receive diagnostic and
consulting services, and most treatments free of
charge. |

Newborn Screening Program
The Jamaican
Government's Newborn Screening Program for sickel
cell disease is conducted by the Jamaican Trust's
staff, under subcontract to the government in a
laboratory in the New Education Center for Sickle
Cell Disease.
The annual cost of the Trust, which is partially
funded by international and local government
agencies, are approximately $24 million. The
remainder of the funding comes from local
corporations and individuals. |

Dr. Graham Sergeant is Chairman of the board for
the Jamaican Trust in the West Indies.
